Being interested in all things “87th”, I came across an online auction of a large group of related photos. The pictures - nearly 60 in all - were listed as being from the estate of an unidentified 87th Infantry Division soldier during WWII. Upon review, it appears they belonged to William R. Saul of the 787th Ordnance Company, the unit in which my father served. Other members of the Company are noted on the backs of several photos as well. Dad apparently didn’t have a camera during the war as there aren’t many photos of him during that period. So, on the oft chance there might be one of him in the group, I bid on - and won - the auction. To date, I have not found any photos in this group that appear to include him, but perhaps others who knew a soldier in 87th Infantry Division soldiers will be more fortunate than I. Many of them have notes written on them and the captions have been included. If you can provide additional information on Mr. Saul or, if you can identify anyone in these pictures, please let us know.
